Referees and Officials

You’ve been to our bouts and seen those gents and ladies in the stripes with their wacky arm gestures and yelling at skaters? They’re part of the Sun State Roller Girls Stripe Force. We couldn’t hold our bouts without them.

Think you’ve got what it takes to become one? Here are the steps to become a Referee for the Sun State Roller Girls

1. Learn to skate. Attend learn to skate classes at Digi Roller Skating, or your local rink.

2. Keep you eyes open for an intake. These are help throughout the year. Let us know your interested.

3. Once you pass the intake, you'll become a league member and will attend derby skating sessions, before attending Referee training.

4. After a few months of Referee training and passing a rules test, you'll be ready to Ref in a bout. And then the hard work really begins!

If you're keen, start looking at the rules now (it takes a while to get the hang of them). The rules can be downloaded from The WFTDA website.
